Book Reviews & More

I. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

1. Books submitted to the MWSA for review must be submitted by an active MWSA member in good standing with the MWSA per the membership requirements defined in Article III and Article IV in the MWSA By-laws

2. Books submitted for review must be submitted by the author, co-authors, or by the publishing house

3. No computer generated Adobe Pdf, MS Word, or MS Word Perfect files, handwritten or typed drafts, manuscripts, or outlines will be accepted

4. Books submitted must have the following per normal publishing standards:

a. Be a published book
b. Have an ISBN
c. List the price

5. The author or publishing house inquiring about submitting a book for review must receive a confirmation notice that the MWSA will review the book

6. Unless otherwise instructed, the author or publishing house, after  receiving review confirmation from MWSA, will mail (postage paid by the sender) one (1) published copy of the book to the address provided by MWSA

 

7. The MWSA Review Chairman will determine who the assigned reviewer is and, when necessary, will provide the author or publishing house the mailing address of the assigned MWSA reviewer where the book is to be mailed.

II. REVIEW GUIDELINES:

1. Each book will be reviewed in the following areas:

a. Cover
b. Layout
c. Content
d. Appearance
e. Writing skill
f. Technical proficiency

1. Grammar
2. Organization
3. Punctuation
4. Readability
5. Spelling

2. All books submitted to the MWSA for review will receive one (1) written review. The written review may also be posted on the MWSA website, if requested by the author, co-authors, or the publishing house submitting the book for review

3. All books submitted for review automatically qualify for entry into the MWSA Annual Literary Awards Contest

4. Any book receiving a Five-Star rating for literary excellence will be eligible for consideration for the MWSA Annual Literary Award Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medals in one (1) of nineteen (19) annual literary award categories.
Books will be rated on a Five-Star; Three-Star; One-Star basis.

5. Books winning an MWSA Annual Literary Award may be considered for submission to other nationally recognized literary award contests or also may be considered for submission to the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize Committees

6. All books submitted for review become the property of the MWSA and will not be returned.
