Funniest Military Book since
Catch 22 and M.A.S.H.!
There are not many books that I
have read that are genuinely hilarious. Author, Joe “Tuffy” Tofuri, a
former Air Force Training Instructor (T.I.) for basic airman, uses his 15
years as a T.I. to give us a wonderfully funny book called “Tuffy’s
Heroes.” It deals with the life of the T.I. and his basic
recruits during the 1960’s.
It should bring back memories of
basic training no matter what branch of the service you were in. The culture
is almost the same; and for old veterans like me, it felt real. It is also
the funniest military book you may ever read. There is one story in there
about a basic recruit who was trying to get out of the service by pretending
to be a werewolf. It is outrageous and done with great storytelling skills.
It will leave you laughing out loud, so be careful where you read the book
or people may be wondering about your mental health as well.
The
author has great writing skills which he uses to get you hooked on what is
happening to the characters in his story. You cannot help but smile and
laugh as you read through this book. I think non-military people will also
enjoy the story and the people in it. You need not have been in the military
to get the impact of the stories. The book will give the reader some
insights into the mind set of the T.I.s and what they went through in the
process of turning young recruits into real functioning airmen.
Reading this book will give you
“a rib tickling” good time. You might even feel sorry for some of the basic
recruits, but in the end, you will be laughing at them.
I give it the MWSA’s
Highest Rating of Five Stars!
