The Real Life Crime Stories of the
C.I.D.
James Benson’s book “Marine
Corps Detectives” really surprised me with how entertaining it was to
read. It is not pretentious or flowery in any exaggerated way but a simple
telling of the stories of the CID in action. Each short chapter is right to
the point and reads like the crime section of the New York Times. You know
who the bad guys are and you know what happened to them.
These are true life accounts
that span the history of the CID from the end of WWII to modern times. It is
an easy and enjoyable book to read. It would make a great book to take to
the airport or any place where you have some time to kill. You can pick the
book up and read any chapter in any order. Each story is complete by itself.
These brave men and women of the
CID battle drug dealers, killers, robbers and thugs around the globe—where
ever Marines are stationed. The author has done a great job chronicling the
life and times of those special crime fighters. The book’s language is
family friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and recommend it for a good
afternoon of reading. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone in law
enforcement.
