A Vietnam Veteran Memoir
When you meet author John Flanagan he comes across as
just a regular middle aged guy; but when you realize all that he has seen
and been through you have a much greater respect for the man. He was
awarded two Bronze Stars, and two Distinguished Flying Crosses and the list
goes on including 54 Air Medals.
His book, “Born in Brooklyn …Raised in the CAV,” explores
who this guy was and how he got to be the man he is today. He went
into the service as a young man and was a helicopter pilot by the time he
was just 20 years old. The story of his experiences before going into
the service and including his “tour of duty” makes for some entertaining
reading. His life was changed by Vietnam, as were so many others, by
what he did there. In his own humble telling of these stories, you too
can get an insider's view of that war from a helicopter pilot’s perspective.
