The Most Feared Infantry Company in
Vietnam!
Former Army sergeant Fred Steen
uses his memories and experiences of his own three tours of duty in Vietnam
to create a war novel called “Black Knight Alfa.” There are many
novels written about that war but few have the ring of truth as does this so
called book of fiction—which is based mostly on real situations and people.
The author chooses to tell his story as a novel and took a few liberties to
ensure that real people could be
identified. For the most part, huge chunks of the story are real which
makes reading it more interesting and well—more believable.
This is a good way to learn
something about what some infantry units were like during that war without
reading some dry history book or boring memoir. It is worth an afternoon or
two to spend some time reading. It may give you some insights on veterans of
that war and why they may think as they do today. Fred Steen provides the
reader with foot notes and a glossary to make the experience even more
complete.
