YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS!

Day after day you serve away from home

In a land which differs so from America,

The country where you were born and grew.

You daily are directed to deal with others

Whose upbringing differs so radically

From your early experiences here at home.

Your initial confusion and questioning

Are understandably heavy upon you

While you attempt to comprehend events.

Yet, when you look closely upon them,

The common folks and their children,

You discover their striking individualities.

The strong and the weak do exist there;

Sometimes the virtues are hidden among

Those vices which constantly draw attention.

Of course, readily you remember back home

Everyday people also are strong or weak

Depending upon each person’s upbringing.

We fully understand that there is a true commitment

Within you to protect, support and defend those

Who unjustly have been denied full citizenship.

Our pledge to you is that you do not stand alone.

Each of us here want our message of support,

Of appreciation and encouragement to go out to you.

Those who are so loud and angry about the war

Do not represent the vast, supportive majority

Of us who offer our gratitude for your sacrifices.

The largest percentage of us at home send you

Our love and our commitment to support you;

Know without doubt that you are in our thoughts.
