What time is it in Iraq?

How many of us know what time it is in Iraq?

We think of our Armed Forces being there and we think about when they can come back,

But do we know what they are doing right now in Iraq?

We know what time the Memorial Day party starts and we know what time to celebrate,

But do we know what time the Marine platoon launches it’s mission,

And what will be it’s fate?

Do we ever think about what time it is in Iraq?

We get involved in the political issues as to why they are there.

But do we ever wonder what time and where they eat their next meal

Or when they are wounded, how long it will take or if the wounds will heal?

After hours of fighting to near exhaustion, their eye lids sag,

They need some sleep,

But are afraid they won’t wake and be placed in a body bag,

Causing friends and family to weep.

Ironically, they seldom know the time it is in Iraq either

Because their clock has a twenty four hour face,

They are on duty around the clock

And usually, at a very fast pace.

Their Fridays and Sundays are the same.

Hoping at mail call, to get a letter

It’s a daily waiting game

But when one comes they feel so much better.

Our Armed forces have fought and died for our freedom since 1775.

They didn’t want to die for our freedom, they wanted to live

They each fought bravely and gave all they had to give

They stood proud and they stood tall

Some are names marked on The Wall.

When they think about what is important and dear.

They think about what time it is here.

So let’s raise our glasses and let’s think back,

I wonder what time it is right now in Iraq?
