The Timeclock of a Soldier
The only timeclock in a war,
Is a soldier's heart.
It ticks away the time of life,
A jeweler couldn't start.
It ticks away the hours,
It ticks away the days.
Only God can wind them up,
Each time a soldier prays.
A soldier's heart will beat so fast,
When he's near his fate.
The timeclock now depends on God,
Who set the time and date.
If our God had fingerprints,
We'd never count them all.
He touched so many soldier's hearts,
When answering their call.
Everyone in uniform,
From sea to shining sea,
Would give their best and timeclocks up,
To fight for you and me.
