Oldies played with a slight taste of
country rock – and lots of energy!
There is just no way you will not jump
off your seat and start dancing when you put this CD on and hear the full
energy sounds of Purple Sky. This CD takes familiar oldies (At
least for this Baby Boomer) to new unexpected heights. This is not just a
rehash of the old songs but an upbeat and rocking new arrangement of classic
rock and roll music.
There is a mixture on this CD of old
Elvis tunes, Buddy Holley and a touch of the other voices and sounds from
the fifties and sixties. But this is not some cover group doing golden hits
of others but a creative expression of new energy and vibrancy. The lead
singer Vic Mills has the kind of voice that reminds me of a more
mellow younger Buck Owens or Buddy Holley kind of mix. It has power and when
combined with Marci Williams in a short harmony or duet they sizzle
together.
This is toe tapping, hand clapping get
off your rear end and start moving music. Yes, this may well be “your
father’s music” but with so much more attitude. I loved the music on the
CD and have become a fan. There is not one throw away track on the entire
CD. “Blue Suede Shoes” is one of my favorite cuts on the CD. I
highly recommend this CD for all music lovers. Young people will be
introduced to some classic sounds but with modern country overtones and us
old folks will savor the blasts from the past!
This is the best CD of this genre I have
listened to in at least a decade. It is really that good! A must buy!!!!
